Chaitanya University
Chaitanya (Deemed to be University), approved under Section 3 of the UGC Act by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, has constituted an Anti-Ragging Committee under the AICTE Approval Process Handbook and the UGC Regulations on Curbing the Menace of Ragging in Higher Educational Institutions.
Ragging is a social crime. It is strictly prohibited within the University Campus and outside it. Any student found indulging in ragging — directly or by abetment — will face strict action including FIR with local police and the punishments listed below. The Vice-Chancellor and the Anti-Ragging Committee are charged with prevention, supervision, and immediate action on every reported incident.
Ragging is prohibited on campus, in hostels, on transport, on play grounds, and outside the campus.
Every incident triggers an FIR with local police and an inquiry by the Anti-Ragging Committee.
Identity of the complainant is protected; retaliation is itself a punishable offence.
Twelve members representing faculty, administration, students, parents, and the Office of Examinations. The full composition with direct contact details is in the official order PDF.
The punishment meted out to the persons indulged in ragging is exemplary and justifiably harsh, to act as a deterrent against recurrence.
For every single incident, a First Information Report (FIR) is filed without exception by the institutional authorities with the local police.
The Anti-Ragging Committee takes an appropriate decision regarding punishment, depending on the facts of the incident and the nature and gravity of the offence.
Possible institution-level punishments depend on the nature and gravity of the established offence, and are listed below.
Penalties may be imposed singly or in combination, depending on the gravity of the offence.
Proven ragging also attracts criminal prosecution under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Telangana Prohibition of Ragging Act.
Ragging is prevented by the institution, the parents, and the students working together. Each group has concrete steps to follow.
You can contact any Committee member or the Vice-Chancellor at any time if anyone tries to rag you. Do not do anything against your will, even if a senior orders you to. Report the incident to the office or to any Committee member immediately. The University will take stringent action against the senior involved. Do not fear retaliation — your identity is protected and the Committee will act.
